Paul Collingwood believes relegation and 48-point penalty against Durham has brought team more together

Durham will be motivated by a profound sense of hurt, says their captain Paul Collingwood, as they try to recover from the ECB’s savage punishment by returning to division one of the county championship.
Collingwood’s tough talking, during the practice game between Middlesex and Durham at Merchant Taylors school in Northwood, upstaged the ECB’s launch of the new championship season at the same venue.
After promotion to first-class status in 1992, Durham became not only the chief nursery of England fast bowlers but the only county never to have been demoted from division one, until the ECB punished them for financial irregularities by demotion and a 48-point penalty.
