We have used Tom’s Durham County Cricket Club’s Credibility to support our campaign as the county club could not be involved in any way.

Tom Moffat MBE

Tom first played for a “Durham County XI” against the NW Durham League in 1949, then several games for Durham CCC in Minor Counties matches and played league cricket over 40 years. He was Treasurer of DCCC through the 1980’s, wrote the feasibility research study for the then Committee to help them decide to try for First Class Status. It was presented on 21st March 1989, and agreed that night. Tom was one of the three-man working party – and scribe – who put the bid together, a Director from 1991 to 2006 and DCCC President 2006-2008. He was the author of the sell-out book, “The Impossible Dream… Come True”, which tells the story of the First Class bid.

At age 87, Tom is no longer actively connected with DCCC, although he remains an Honorary Vice–President. Most importantly, Tom still loves DCCC, which has energised this campaign.
